Prognostic significance of the genetic variant of lymphotoxin alpha (p.Thr60Asn) in egyptian patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma
Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide in terms of mortality, and susceptibility is attributed to genetic, lifestyle, and environmental factors. Lymphotoxin alpha (LTA) has a crucial role in communicating the lymphocytes with stromal cells and provoking cytotoxic effects on the cancer cells. There are no reports on the contribution of the LTA (c
Handwriting Letter Recognition on the Steering Wheel Switches
Automotive steering wheel switches technologies are evolving to give easy access to the several interior or exterior functions. This is worth a deep analysis for the current trends in order not to become unintuitive for the driver due to the increasing number of buttons. Through different technologies particularly the capacitive ones, range of innovative solutions have been developed like
A Machine Learning-Based Intrusion Detection System for IoT Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCSs)
The demand for electric vehicles (EVs) is growing rapidly. This requires an ecosystem that meets the user’s needs while preserving security. The rich data obtained from electric vehicle stations are powered by the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem. This is achieved through us of electric vehicle charging station management systems (EVCSMSs). However, the risks associated with cyber-attacks on IoT
A Lightweight Image Encryption Scheme Using DNA Coding and Chaos
Protecting transmitted multimedia data such as images is a significant concern. This work proposes an encryption algorithm for greyscale images using a Pseudo-Random Number Generator (PRNG), DNA coding, and pixel sum. The proposed approach is implemented on a Genesys 2 FPGA using minimal hardware resources and can operate at a maximum frequency of 110.8 MHz. In addition, several performance
The Psychological Impact of University Brand Equity Using Firm Generated EWOM on Students’ Satisfaction: The Moderating Effect of Gender
This study uses firm-generated "electronic word of mouth (eWOM)" and students' satisfaction to analyse the effect of university brand equity. Four aspects of brand equity—"awareness, positioning, perceived quality, and trustworthiness"—are examined by the conceptual framework. It also examines how gender influences the relationship between student satisfaction and institution brand equity. At Nile
Humanizing Smart Cities: A Preconception to a Better Life for All
As cities face the challenge of conceiving new and more competitive and sustainable development models, there has been an emergence of introducing technology to cities to enhance the quality of life it provides to the citizens. The 'Smart City' was proposed as a new prototype of technology-based urban development. These smart cities witness the emergence of the metaverse and platform societies
A power-aware task scheduler for energy harvesting-based wearable biomedical systems using snake optimizer
There is an increasing interest in energy harvesting for wearable biomedical devices. This requires power conservation and management to ensure long-term and steady operation. Hence, task scheduling algorithms will be used throughout this work to provide a reliable solution to minimize energy consumption while considering the system operation constraints. This study proposes a novel power-aware
Impact assessment of implementing virtual reality in the Egyptian construction industry
Construction projects in Egypt are becoming more complex as the need for mega projects increases to meet the Egyptian 2030 vision. Meanwhile, the advancement of Virtual Reality technologies is apparent in the 21st century. This paper aims to assess the impact of implementing virtual reality in the Egyptian construction industry. An application using Fuzor VDC and Oculus Quest 2 has been developed
Water Importance and Pollution Sources-Recommended Limits of Pollutants
There are many water resources like rivers, seas, rains, and groundwater, which can be used in different sectors such as agricultural, domestic, and industrial uses. Therefore, different wastewater effluents with different properties are produced depending on their source. Industrial wastewater is one of the most harmful effluents due to the presence of toxic pollutants such as heavy metals, dyes
Modified Arnold Transform and DNA Manipulation for Chaos-Based RGB Image Encryption
Multimedia applications use image encryption algorithms extensively to safeguard and authenticate digital images. This paper presents an RGB image encryption method, which uses Chaos, DNA, pixel sum, and modified Arnold transform. The suggested algorithm is validated to be robust and resistant to visual, statistical, differential, and brute-force attacks. Additionally, the resulting encrypted
