Pharmaceuticals Wastewater Treatment
Abstract
This wastewater treatment project focuses on removing pharmaceutical compounds, such as anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotics, from water bodies using agricultural waste materials and membrane technology. Bagasse and coffee waste are evaluated as sustainable adsorbents due to their high adsorption capacities. Membrane filtration processes, including ultrafiltration and nanofiltration, are utilized for their efficiency and selectivity in removing target compounds while maintaining water quality. The project aims to assess the adsorption capacity of the agricultural wastes, optimize membrane parameters, and investigate the feasibility, scalability, and sustainability of the integrated treatment system. The anticipated outcomes include achieving high removal efficiencies of pharmaceutical compounds, demonstrating cost-effectiveness, and promoting environmental sustainability by repurposing waste streams and minimizing reliance on conventional adsorbents.
