Ms. Shaimaa Reda has been awarded the prestigious African Biodiversity Fellowship for Emerging Genomics Leaders 2024!

We are thrilled to announce that Ms. Shaimaa Reda, a committed Teaching Assistant at the NU School of Biotechnology, has been honored with the prestigious African Biodiversity Fellowship for Emerging Genomics Leaders 2024.

This esteemed fellowship is the result of a collaboration between the “African Bio Genome Project (AFRICABP)” and the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology (IGB) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA. AFRICABP stands as a groundbreaking pan-African initiative dedicated to establishing genomic data for thousands of species, aimed at enhancing sustainable agriculture and biodiversity across the continent.

Through this fellowship, Ms. Shaimaa Reda will have the opportunity to spend a month-long stay at an African institution followed by three months at IGB, USA, where she will delve into project-based genomics and bioinformatics. This represents a significant stride towards fostering leadership in genomics throughout Africa.
