The Board of Trustees of Nile University has launched a global search for the University's next president, to begin his/ her duties in September 2025. The expected candidate should have a very strong academic and administrative profile, international exposure background, and the ability to navigate global shifts in higher education. The next president should lead strategic growth, foster research and innovation, expand entrepreneurial and community engagement, and drive fundraising efforts in alignment with the university’s commitment to fourth-generation university principles—integrating education, research, innovation, and societal impact.

Introduction: -

Nile University seeks a high-impact, mission-oriented president to guide the institution’s advancement as a pioneering fourth-generation university. This role offers a unique opportunity to harness the university’s strong foundation in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship to create transformative societal and economic impact. The expected candidate should unite tradition with forward-thinking strategy, fostering a collaborative culture and a shared vision that engages faculty, staff, students, and external partners alike. As Chief Executive Officer, the President should ensure the effective execution of Board policies, strengthen institutional integration across teaching, research, and innovation functions, and position the university as a national and international hub for knowledge creation, talent development, and entrepreneurial leadership.

About Nile University

Nile University is the first entrepreneurial, research-based, national University in Egypt. Established in 2006, (Presidential Decree # 255/2006), Nile University was officially inaugurated in January 2007 and became a non-governmental autonomously managed (Ahleya) university in 2014 (Presidential Decree # 123/2014). Nile University developed both its vision and mission to support its mandate.

The above 10 Schools offer 22 Undergraduate Programs and several Postgraduate programs (diplomas, Master of Science, Professional Master, PhD) in different disciplines.

As a fourth-generation university, NU leverages its four advanced research centers to translate theoretical knowledge into innovative solutions that address real-world challenges and contribute directly to the sustainable development of Egyptian society.   • Wireless Intelligent Network Center (WINC)
  • Center for Informatics Science (CIS)
  • Smart Engineering Systems Center (SESC)

Nile University is a national leader in advancing innovation and entrepreneurship across Egypt through its Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Competitiveness Centre (IECC). The center proudly hosted the NilePreneurs Initiative, one of the country’s largest and most impactful programs in the field. Through this initiative, NU has supported hundreds of startups and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), fostering economic growth, technological advancement, and a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in alignment with the university’s fourth-generation mission of societal and economic transformation.

I. Job description:-

The President of the University is accountable to the Board of Trustees and is responsible for the effective management and strategic leadership of the institution. This includes aligning with the university's mission, addressing higher education needs, fostering collaboration across campus and with the community, and guiding the formulation and execution of both short- and long-term strategic plans. The President also serves as the university’s legal representative and is expected to engage faculty, students, and administrators in decision-making processes.

II. Job Responsibilities: -

  • Strategic Vision and Mission Execution: - Lead the implementation of the university’s mission and strategic goals in alignment with Board-approved directives. Establish long-term institutional priorities and drive progress through effective planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation processes.
  • Academic Leadership and Educational Quality: - Ensure academic excellence by overseeing quality educational programs, maintaining accreditation standards, and enhancing the learning experience. Provide leadership in academic affairs, support services, and institutional effectiveness.
  • Student-Centered Focus: - Champion the best interests of students by fostering inclusive, supportive learning and living environments. Align decision-making with student success, engagement, and well-being.
  • Institutional Governance and Board Relations: - Work closely with the Board of Trustees to support governance processes, policy development, and strategic decision-making. Maintain consistent communication and provide timely updates, proposals, and recommendations.
  • Administrative Oversight and Organizational Leadership: - Establish and lead an effective administrative structure. Recruit, develop, and manage a high-performing senior leadership team. Oversee daily operations and promote a positive institutional culture.
  • Financial Stewardship and Resource Management: - Direct financial planning, budgeting, and risk management. Ensure effective allocation of resources and develop diversified revenue streams through fundraising and external funding initiatives.
  • Policy and Regulatory Compliance: - Recommend and enforce policies aligned with institutional goals and national higher education standards. Ensure adherence to ministry regulations and program accreditation requirements.
  • External Engagement and Advancement: - Lead the university’s external relations strategy, including alumni, government, and community partnerships. Serve as the chief representative and spokesperson, enhancing public visibility and institutional credibility.
  • Strategic Partnerships and Innovation: - Cultivate and sustain partnerships with industry, government, academia, and civil society to support research, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer. Respond proactively to evolving market trends and societal needs.
  • Institutional Integrity and Best Practices: - Ensure that the university operates with transparency, professionalism, and accountability. Uphold a coherent institutional image and promote values consistent with academic integrity and global competitiveness.

IV- Presidential Candidate Qualifications

General Qualifications:

  • Holds the academic rank of full professor with a minimum of five years in rank.
  • Has senior leadership experience in nationally or internationally recognized universities.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of the Egyptian higher education system, complemented by both national and international exposure.
  • Demonstrates a proven track record in entrepreneurial and transformative academic leadership.
  • Exhibits excellent communication skills, fluency in English, and no travel restrictions.

  • A strategic thinker with expertise in institutional planning, fiscal management, and organizational development.
  • An exceptional communicator, skilled in public speaking, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
