Yasser Mater is currently a Ph.D. candidate in structural engineering, Cairo University. He is also an instructor in the Civil and Infrastructure Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Nile University. He was awarded his M.Sc. degree in Structural Engineering from Cairo University (2018), in the field of engineering materials. His teaching experience comprises many courses including structural analysis, structural mechanics, design of reinforced concrete (RC) structures, and engineering materials. He also practiced structural engineering by working for a consulting office as a part-time structural design engineer. During his work, he participated in the design of many projects, including RC residential buildings and RC tanks.
His current research interests are in the field of mechanical performance of sustainable concrete. He participated in a variety of research projects in the field of engineering materials and concrete design such as: experimental investigations of RC structural members, mix design optimization through artificial neural networks, and experimental/numerical characterization of expanded polystyrene (EPS). He also, worked as a Co-PI on a funded project from Nile University, to assess the mechanical performance of RC folded footings with EPS-filled cavities. Nevertheless, his Ph.D. specialization is in the assessment of the flexural performance of recycled concrete strengthened with CFRP.
