Sahar graduated from the Systems and Biomedical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University 1985. She received her Master's and Ph.D. degrees in 1989 and 2002 respectively, from the Systems and Biomedical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. She participated in different research groups and addressed diverse fields such as Deep Learning, Modeling and Finite Element Analysis, Telemedicine, Hospital Information Systems, Image processing, Arabic Text to Speech systems, and Speech and Speaker Recognition. She has several peer-reviewed research papers published in international journals and conferences. She supervised 8 Ph.D. and 20 Masters' theses in the fields mentioned above. Graduation projects under her supervision were funded by ITIDA, STDF and NTRA. 2019th graduation project titled "Aiding System for elderly, visually impaired and illiteracy” won the second prize in the ministry of communication, IBTIECAR competition, Augmented Reality section.
