IMPLEMENTING BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY IN THE EGYPTIAN CONTEXT OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the Blockchain technology adoption opportunities and challenges in Egypt. The Blockchain technology is evolving with diverse benefits worldwide. Each country has its own motives and barriers to adopt the Blockchain. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the benefits and the challenges of adopting the Blockchain technology from Egyptian prospective. The Egyptian supply chain management, real estate, banking and finance, and the governmental services are discussed in this research work as examples of potential sectors for the Blockchain adoption. Efficiency, trust, transparency, and security are explained as the key Egyptian benefits of the technology which impact the consumers. Potential challenges are explored in relation to regulations, awareness, market, skills, and national strategy. This research work pin points the importance of implementing Blockchain technology in Egypt. It supports researchers, decision makers, technology enthusiasts in the industry and government and entrepreneurs while investigating Blockchain technology-based solutions in Egypt. The study also be considered as an added value to the Egyptian literature written about the Blockchain technology. An exploratory nature, a qualitative research design along with semi structure interviews have been followed in this research to identify the potential areas of Blockchain adoption and the implementation barriers and challenges which may be faced in Egypt.
