Senior Accounts Receivable Accountant - Students

Job Summary:

The senior Accounts Receivable Accountant is responsible for managing the organization's receivables process, including invoicing, collections and account reconciliation. The role ensures the timely collection of outstanding balances, maintains accurate financial records, supports financial reporting and closing activities, and collaborates with internal departments to resolve billing and payment-related issues. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee student accounts receivable, including billing, invoicing, collections, and account reconciliation.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of student invoices, payments, refunds, discounts, scholarships, sponsorships, and other adjustments.
  • Monitor student outstanding balances and aging reports, follow up on overdue accounts, and support effective collection strategies.
  • Reconcile student accounts receivable with the General Ledger and investigate and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with Admissions, Registration, Student Affairs, Scholarships, and other relevant departments to resolve billing issues and student account inquiries.
  • Ensure proper allocation of student payments against the relevant invoices and academic terms.
  • Prepare periodic reports on student receivables, collections, outstanding balances, and related financial information for management review.
  • Support month-end, semester-end, and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations, adjustments, and journal entries.
  • Ensure compliance with university financial policies, procedures, and applicable accounting standards and regulations.
  • Review the work of junior accountants and provide guidance and support to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support the improvement of student receivable procedures, internal controls, and collection processes.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure timely student clearance and settlement of outstanding balances.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by management within the same specialty and nature of the position.

 Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or its relevant.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in the same field.
  • ERP and Software Proficiency
  • Strong Time Management and Communications skills
  • Very good Command of English Language
