Nile University is pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees, in its meeting held on 10 February 2026 and chaired by Prof. Mahmoud Mohieldin, has approved the appointment of Prof. Amr Safwat as Provost, effective 10 February 2026.
Prof. Safwat brings with him an outstanding academic and leadership record. He earned his BSc and MSc in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Ain Shams University, a BSc in Accounting, and his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Throughout his distinguished career, he has held several key leadership roles, including:
- Chair of the Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering Department at Ain Shams University
- Manager of the Information Technology Academia Collaboration (ITAC) Department at the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA)
- Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Nile University
Under his leadership at Nile University, the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences secured NAQAAE accreditation for 80% of its programs and achieved ABET accreditation for the Mechanical Engineering program, marking significant milestones in academic excellence and quality assurance.
Prof. Safwat has also served as a visiting professor in Germany, France, and Finland.
He holds eight U.S. patents and has published more than 120 international journal and conference papers.
