In 2023, he was selected by the Hong Kong Government as a Global STEM Scholar and Chair Professor at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Throughout his distinguished career, Professor Elghazouli has held various full-time and visiting academic positions in the UK, Egypt, Italy, Belgium, USA, Japan, and China. With over 30 years of experience in engineering research and consulting, he has produced more than 400 international publications and has contributed as a specialist design expert to numerous notable infrastructure projects and iconic structures worldwide.
He is a Fellow of the UK Institutions of Civil and Structural Engineers and was elected Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng) in 2016 — the highest and most prestigious honor for a UK engineer — in recognition of his outstanding and sustained contributions to international engineering research, education, and practice.
Professor Elghazouli is a graduate of Ain Shams University and obtained his MSc and PhD degrees from Imperial College London. Over the past two decades, he has also actively contributed to several national initiatives and committees in Egypt, including those related to design standards, quality assurance, conservation of heritage structures, and the engineering sector of the Supreme Council of Universities.
Professor Essam Roushdy expressed his full confidence in Professor Ahmed Elghazouli’s ability to lead Nile University into a new phase of institutional development, enhance its competitiveness locally and internationally, expand its research partnerships, and further strengthen its academic standing.
