"Living in a Digital Age: Technology and its Effects on Culture and Society" Conference
The "Living in a Digital Age: Technology and its Effects on Culture and Society" Conference is held at Nile University in collaboration with Orient Institut Beirut (OIB).
The conference explores how the digital era can improve the current performance with regard to understanding cultural, social, and religious change. The conference is very interdisciplinary by nature. It brings together world-renowned experts with unique expertise and skills in the field of Digital Humanities with the aim of advancing the current state of knowledge for Arab researchers in literature, culture, media, arts, history, religion, and sociology. The conference will help initiate an inquiry that will hopefully culminate in a co-edited book project as well as a special issue for a refereed journal by Brill, which will further enhance our commitment to knowledge dissemination.
The conference focuses on issues and challenges pretraining to the praxis of Digital Humanities (DH) in diverse geographical contexts, countries, and cultures, especially, though without being limited to, Arabic. The conference is very multidisciplinary by nature. It will bring together world-renowned experts with unique expertise and skills in the field of Digital Humanities with the aim of advancing the current state of knowledge for Arab researchers in literature, culture, media, arts, history, and sociology. Samples of their work under DH projects will be presented to map out the revolutionary trends and fluctuations in Arabic Digital Humanities, a matter which makes us in a better position to understand the ongoing phenomenon.
