The Senior Health and Safety Specialist supports a safe and compliant work environment by monitoring operations, conducting equipment inspections and coordinating repairs. The role includes performing risk assessments, investigating incidents, implementing safety procedures, and ensuring alignment with regulatory standards.
Job Description
- Conduct detailed field inspections of work areas, tools, and equipment to verify safe operating conditions and identify potential hazards.
- Document and report unsafe practices or non-compliance issues, recommending corrective actions to responsible departments.
- Monitor implementation of corrective actions to ensure hazards are effectively controlled or eliminated.
- Assist in developing and updating safety procedures, work instructions, and checklists based on observed risks and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments for tasks, equipment, or new processes and develop recommendations to minimize operational risks.
- Verify proper placement and condition of safety signs, labels, and emergency information across work locations.
- Track and ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of waste materials, confirming compliance with internal and external HSE guidelines.
- Review daily operations and highlight any potential conflicts with safety policies, environmental standards, or regulatory requirements.
- Prepare periodic technical reports, including inspection summaries, incident data, and follow-up actions.
- Stay updated on current HSE regulations and best practices by attending relevant workshops and training programs.
- Responsible for managing all governmental relations related to HSE regulations and for preparing and submitting all required technical reports to the relevant governmental authorities.
- Perform additional duties related to HSE support, as assigned, within the nature of the specialist role.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in risk management, engineering, safety management, or in a related discipline.
- Preferably, the candidate should hold one of the following technical HSE certifications: "NEBOSH, OSHA, or IOSH”.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience.
- Crisis Management Skills.
- Time Management and problem-solving skills.
