School of Biotechnology - Associate Professor

Nile University is the first entrepreneurial, research-based, national University in Egypt. Established in 2006, (Presidential Decree # 255/2006), Nile University was officially inaugurated in January 2007 and became a non-governmental autonomously managed (Ahleya) university in 2014 (Presidential Decree # 123/2014). Nile University developed both its vision and mission to support its mandate.

Starting out with graduate studies programs, Nile University has grown over the years to include 5 schools: School of Engineering and Applied Science – School of Information Technology and Computer Science- School of Business Administration – School of Biotechnology – Graduate School of Management of Technology. 

Currently the University is expanding its academic programs and research capabilities; to help achieve its Mission.

The School of Energy and Environmental Engineering by the Presidential Decree No.  859/2023

The School of Digital Humanities, School of Water Science and Food Security, School of Sciences, Graduate School of Education by the presidential decree No. 368/2024.

Nile University is seeking to recruit outstanding and visionary candidates who can contribute to teaching research and service in a vibrant and challenging academic environment, to teach at the School of Biotechnology. The successful candidates will have a proven track record of academic and research excellence, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for developing the next generation of leaders. This is a unique opportunity to lead one of the premier schools in Egypt and the MENA region, fostering excellence in education, research, and industry partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver undergraduate courses in respective disciplines.
• Establish a productive research agenda aligned with global and regional challenges.
• Attract external funding and produce high-quality publications.
• Boost dynamic research environment and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Contribute to program development and assessment.
• Build partnerships with industries and participate in community engagement initiatives.
• Support the school’s accreditation and quality assurance efforts.
• Supervise student research and projects at both undergraduate and graduate levels and mentor their professional development.
• Engage in service activities within the department, school, and university.

Required Qualifications

1. PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, or other related fields from a world-renowned research institute.
2. A bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or other related fields.
3. Experience in mass spectrometry, genetic engineering, protein production, and conducting bacterial genetic knockouts.
4. A proven track record of publishing research in bacterial vaccines and microbial pathogenesis.
5. Experience in applying/securing international research funding.
6. Contributed to developing candidate vaccines targeting bacterial pathogens from the World Health Organization bacterial priority list.
7. Hold a patent in bacterial vaccine development.
8. Experience in teaching in both online and in-person settings.
9. Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
10. Participated in organizing international conferences and has a strong research network.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of experience working in an industrial setting, preferably in a vaccine production company.
• Postgraduate certificate in learning and teaching.
• A demonstrated ability to lead initiatives in innovation and supporting the wider scientific community.
