Nile University seeks a high-impact, mission-oriented Vice President for Research, open only to Egyptian nationals, to guide the institution’s advancement as a pioneering fourth-generation university. As the university’s chief research officer, the Vice President for Research should provide strategic leadership for the research sector and be responsible for maintaining research excellence, ensuring effective research governance, and promoting smooth coordination among all research centers and academic units in alignment with the university’s mission, values, strategic objectives, and policies. The Vice President for Research should play a pivotal role in positioning the university as a national and international hub for groundbreaking research and innovation, promoting the development of entrepreneurial researchers and pioneering discoveries that contribute to national and global advancement.

About Nile University

Nile University is the first entrepreneurial, research-based, national University in Egypt. Established in 2006, (Presidential Decree # 255/2006), Nile University was officially inaugurated in January 2007 and became a non-governmental autonomously managed (Ahleya) university in 2014 (Presidential Decree # 123/2014). Nile University developed both its vision and mission to support its mandate.

B. Schools will start in Fall 2026 (UG and PG):

  3. School of Digital Humanities

  5. Graduate School of Education

The above 10 Schools offer 22 Undergraduate Programs and several Postgraduate programs (diplomas, Master of Science, Professional Master, PhD) in different disciplines.

Nile University is distinguished for its impactful, collaborative research with leading national and international industry, academic, governmental, and non-governmental partners. It has four established research centers and two under-establishment. As a fourth-generation university, NU leverages its advanced research centers to translate theoretical knowledge into innovative solutions that address real-world challenges and contribute directly to the sustainable development of Egyptian society. The current research centers are:

  • Nanoelectronics Integrated Systems Center (NISC)
  • Wireless Intelligent Network Center (WINC)
  • Center for Informatics Science (CIS)
  • Smart Engineering Systems Center (SESC)

Nile University is a national leader in advancing innovation and entrepreneurship across Egypt through its Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Competitiveness Center (IECC). The center proudly hosted the NilePreneurs Initiative, one of the country’s largest and most impactful programs in the field. Through this initiative, NU has supported hundreds of startups and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), fostering economic growth, technological advancement, and a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in alignment with the university’s fourth-generation mission of societal and economic transformation.

I. Job description:

Nile University (NU), a leading institution of higher education in Egypt, invites applications and nominations from Egyptian nationals for the position of Vice President for Research, the University’s chief research officer. Appointed by the Board of Trustees, the Vice President for Research plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the research mission, vision, and strategy of the University. The Vice President for Research is responsible for providing leadership for the research sector, ensuring excellence in discovery, innovation, and the oversight of all research centers, technology transfer, and research-related operations. The Vice President for Research is a key member of the University Council and works closely with Provost, center directors, and senior leadership to promote research quality, interdisciplinary collaboration, and institutional growth.

II. Key Responsibilities:

  • Governance & Policy Development: Develops the scientific research strategic plan and research regulations in alignment with the university's vision and global university ranking frameworks.
  • Academic Integrity: Safeguards the integrity and quality of academic conduct at all levels, promoting a culture of ethical scholarship and responsible research.
  • Research Leadership and Administration Oversees all research centers to enhance competitiveness and increase interdisciplinary ideas, innovations, and multi-disciplinary start-ups. Leads the planning and approval process for new research centers.
  • Budget Planning: Leads the research budgeting process, reviews proposals from research center directors, and submits for final approval. Ensures the effective allocation of resources in support of research priorities.
  • Funding and Grants: Facilitates funding opportunities by liaising with various local and international funding organizations and monitor accepted grants in the grants directory and through the grant management system.
  • Industrial Collaboration: Supports collaboration between the research centers, companies and Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Competitiveness Center (IECC) to foster economic growth and technological advancement.
  • International Engagement: Monitors research collaborations between the university and local and international academic institutions, and organizes conferences, visits, and memoranda of understanding related to various research activities.
  • Institutional Representation: Shares responsibility with the President in managing NU’s relationships with external academic institutions, professional associations, and relevant educational bodies nationally and internationally.
  • Research Visibility: Continuously updates the university's research profile and encourages distinguished researchers through various means to improve the university's local and international ranking in global databases.
  • Research Affairs: Oversees the recruitment of researchers and their assistants, follows up on research and development activities of all faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduates.

III. Qualifications:

  • Must hold the academic rank of Professor in Engineering or Computer Sciences or Sciences (relevant field) for a minimum of five years.
  • Strong research record, especially in emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrated excellence in academic leadership at the level of Vice president, Dean, Vice Dean, Research Center Director, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in academic planning, budgeting, faculty affairs, and policy development.
  • Strong understanding of the Egyptian higher education and research system, including accreditation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with international standards in academic quality assurance and global university rankings.
  • A collaborative, transparent, and facilitative leadership style committed to shared governance.
  • An exceptional communicator, skilled in public speaking, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Displays an approachable, confident, and collaborative leadership style that builds trust and inspires teams.
  • An innovative and agile problem-solver, capable of turning challenges into strategic opportunities.
  • A skilled fundraiser with a strong record of securing funding from diverse sources and building advocacy for institutional priorities.
