Instructor - Mechanical Engineering
Job Summary:
Instructors are responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and supporting the academic mission of the program through effective instruction, student advising, assessment, and participation in departmental activities. They teach assigned courses, develop instructional materials, assess student performance, provide academic guidance, supervise laboratory and project activities where applicable, and contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, and scholarly activities in support of the program's educational objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Teach assigned courses in accordance with the approved curriculum and course specifications.
- Prepare and deliver tutorials, laboratory sessions, and other instructional activities.
- Develop course materials, assignments, laboratory manuals, examinations, and model answer.
- Assess student learning through assignments, quizzes, laboratory reports, examinations, and other assessment methods, while maintaining accurate academic records.
- Provide academic advising, office hours, and individual guidance to support student success.
- Support students requiring additional academic assistance or approved accommodations.
- Supervise laboratory activities, student projects, and graduation projects, as assigned.
- Participate in accreditation and quality assurance activities.
- Contribute to research and scholarly activities, including technical reports, publications, funded projects, and professional development.
- Ensure the effective operation and safety of teaching laboratories and instructional facilities.
- Perform academic and administrative duties assigned by the School Dean or Program Director.
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Mechatronics Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- A strong undergraduate academic record (minimum graduation grade of Very Good, B+ or equivalent).
- Previous university teaching, laboratory instruction, or relevant industrial experience is an advantage.
Knowledge & Competencies
- Strong technical knowledge in the assigned area of specialization.
- Sound understanding of higher education teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
- Ability to deliver and assess university-level courses effectively.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary academic teams.
- Commitment to student success and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, initiative, and a positive, student-centered approach.
Language Skills:
- Mother tongue Arabic
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in MATLAB and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Very good command of Microsoft Office applications.
- Proficiency in email and electronic communication tools.
- Ability to quickly learn and effectively use new software and educational technologies as required.
