Starting September 1st, 2023, Prof. Youhansen Eid joined Nile University as Provost. Prof. Eid is a professor of Urban planning and design who received her B.Sc. in Architectural Engineering, Ain Shams University (1983), M. Arch. from Southern California Institute of Architecture (1986), and Ph.D. in Urban Planning from the University of Southern California (1992). Since then, she has worked at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, where she has taught several courses in planning theory, urban design, strategic planning, and sustainability, focusing on the impact of socio-political and technological changes on urban form. She held the positions of head of the Department of Urban Planning (2007-2009), Vice-Dean at the Faculty of Engineering (2009-2011) and head of the board of admission and examination for the joint M.Sc. program Integrated Urbanism and Sustainable Design (ASU and Stuttgart University 2011-2013). She has also been appointed as an adjunct professor at the American University in Cairo (2012-2014), the British University in Egypt (2011-2014) and Misr International University (1998-2007).
Prof. Youhansen Eid is a distinguished academician and an accomplished leader who served as the President of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE) in Egypt for nine years (2014 - 2023). During this time, she was able, together with her team, to initiate improvements and implement institutional change leading NAQAAE to become one of the renowned and internationally recognized agencies in the region. She led her team in several international projects, focusing on enhancing quality assurance, TVET reform, TNE, joint accreditation and harmonization of quality assurance in Africa. She is the co-author of the African Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance (ASG-QA).
With a career spanning several decades in the field of education, Prof. Eid has made significant contributions to the advancement of quality assurance and accreditation systems in Egypt and beyond. Throughout her tenure, Prof. Eid worked tirelessly to promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in education. She championed the development of rigorous evaluation frameworks and assessment methodologies to assess the performance of educational institutions and programs. Her efforts were instrumental in establishing a robust accreditation system that fostered accountability and transparency, elevating the overall educational standards in Egypt.
