Senior Proposal Writer
Key Responsibilities:
- Write clear, persuasive, and well-structured proposals that effectively communicate the university's mission, goals, and the value proposition for potential funders
- Manage the full proposal development lifecycle, including research, drafting, revising, obtaining internal approvals, and finalizing documents.
- Ensure all proposals meet specified formatting, documentation, and submission requirements
- Maintain a centralized system to track all active and prospective proposals and donor solicitations
- Collaborate directly with the advancement and development office to gather necessary information for proposals, including project details, budgets, and impact metrics.
- Stay abreast of trends, best practices, and compliance requirements in higher education fundraising and proposal writing
- Provide training, mentorship, and oversight to the fundraising team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in grant writing, proposal development, or a similar fundraising role
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong command of grammar and style
- Ability to translate complex information into clear, compelling narratives
- A proven track record of securing funding from institutional donors such as foundations and corporations is a plus
- Strong research skills to identify new funding opportunities
- Proficient in using donor databases, proposal management software, and other relevant tools
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally with diverse stakeholders
- Passion for the nonprofit's mission and a commitment to social impact is a plus
