On January 12th, Nile University opened its first comprehensive and modern Civil Lab Complex (CLC) which is fully funded by the Housing & Development Bank. This lab is essential for pioneering education and successful delivery of the bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. The CLC provides 7 laboratories through 2 phases; the first phase (Phase I) included three labs inside the CLC, which are Materials & Concrete, Surveying, and Soil Mechanics laboratories while the second phase (Phase II) included four labs, which are Transportation & Asphalt, Environmental, and Hydraulics laboratories, in addition to a large Loading Frame for testing structural elements. The CLC aims to provide students enrolled in the CIEM program with assistance in their mini-projects as well as their graduation projects; it also aims to enhance their skills and abilities, and also get them involved in proper industrial-like practice. The CLC also serve as basis for faculty research and future post-graduate programs in the field of Civil Engineering.
