He is currently a Professor at the School of Information Technology and Computer Science, Nile University. He is an award-winning author and accomplished business leader, researcher, professor, and an engineer with 25+ years of experience of the proven record of leadership, management, research, innovation, and commercialization. He is the inventor of the Hierarchical Adaptive Structure Mesh and single inventor of its related registered group of patents and he pioneered computer vision and the use of cameras for patient movement analysis, where he licences the commercial right in Canada and USA. Recently, Prof. Badawy filed four patents application to protect the novelty of (1) Cognitive Bias driven Deep Neural Network “CBDN”, (2) Behavior Emotion Engagement Trigger Chabot, and (3) Behavior Emotion Engagement Trigger Machine. Wael is honored with 78+ national and international awards including The 2017 distinguish award in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), The 2014 Business Magazine, Leaders of Tomorrow; 2013 Alberta Venture Magazine, recognized as a leader of one of the 25 most innovative organizations and which set up the standard of innovation in Alberta; 2012 CEO in the Top 50 Fast Growing Canadian Companies, Canada; 2011 Leaders Under 40, Control Engineering; and 2010 Named in the Top 40 under 40, Avenue Magazine. He is co-inventor and author of 23+ patents, 4 patent applications filed in 2020, 400+ published papers in technical/industrial journals, transactions, and conferences. In addition to 28 books and proceedings. During his career, he led seven Canadian and international standardization committees on Web, Imaging, Video, and Communication. Prof. Badawy current research interest includes Cognitive and Artificial Intelligence in Written, Audible, Visual and Electronic-Media, Internet of Things, Computer Vison and Video Analytics, and Machine Learning for therapeutic applications. Wael is honored with a PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and He is a registered Professional Engineering in Alberta, Canada and Egypt,a CMC member, a CAPS professional Member, a Senior Member of IEEE and ACM, SPIE, Fellow of The Phi Beta Delta Honor Society, The Upsilon Pi Epsilon Honor Society (UPE) and The Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, among others.
