Job Summary

Job Summary: 

Teaching Assistants perform many organizational and classroom management tasks to support both lecturers and students. Their duties include leading lessons, labs or small group activities for students, grading student assignments in accordance with the lecturers’ grading criteria and providing individual guidance to students with learning disabilities or behavioral challenges. In addition to being part of the academic advising process.

Main Responsibilities:

• Carry on assigned teaching responsibilities in tutorials, Labs and assigned course projects.
• Provide needed students support (advising, office hours, …).
• Carry on assigned research activities (simulation, code development).
• Writing and submitting reports, papers, and thesis.
• Attend and lead the assigned courses’ tutorials, labs, and other course-supporting activities.
• Carry out necessary activities to prepare tutorials, including but not limited to preparation of exercise sheets and model answers.
• Carry out administrative tasks requested by the school dean or the program director.
• Tracking attendance, grading assignments, and calculating grades.
• Giving extra help to students who need special accommodations or are struggling with a concept.
• Supervising the program labs and preparing lab experiments.
• Participating in the societal events and social events organized by the program or the school.

Job Requirements:

• B.Sc. Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Aerospace Engineering.
• Must be graduated with a grade of very good (at least) or B+.
• Excellent communication skills, including writing, public speaking and interpersonal conversation.
• Great organization and planning skills.
• Collaboration and teamwork abilities.
• In-depth knowledge of subjects or discipline they’re assisting with.
• Understanding of pedagogical best practices.
• Ability to engage students of all learning levels and grade levels.
• Patience and empathy.
• Compassionate, positive and encouraging attitude.
• Mother Tongue Arabic.
• Excellent Command of English Language (written and spoken).
• Clever user of MATLAB.
• Very good command of MS. Office Applications, especially Word and Excel.
• Proficiency in the use of email.
• Ability to learn new software.
