Dr. Tarek Khalil 
President & Provost 

IMG 0514 34d86Dr. Khalil is a Professor of Management of Technology. He has held the rank of tenured professor of Industrial Engineering at the University of Miami since 1977. He also held a secondary appointment at the rank of professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health and Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami. Dr. Khalil received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1969. He holds a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cairo and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University. Dr. Khalil is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida as well as in the Syndicate of Engineers in Egypt. He has been involved with the higher education system in the USA for 40 years. Dr. Khalil’s experience includes serving as Chairman of the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Miami for 10 years and as Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Miami. He has also served as the Director of the Management of Technology Program, the Environmental Health and Safety Program and the Ergonomics and Bioengineering Division of the Comprehensive Pain and Rehabilitation Center. He has developed and directed many engineering and interdisciplinary programs within the University of Miami including the joint MBA/MSIE, The Management of Technology, and the Occupational Safety and Health programs. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT), an association with membership from more than 80 countries. He has also served as Chairman of the Council of Fellows of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, as Vice President of the Institute for the Southeast Region and as Director of the Work Measurement and Methods Engineering Division. Dr. Khalil has served as a consultant to governments, industry and educational institutions worldwide for many years. He is nationally and internationally recognized in the areas of Management of Technology, Industrial Engineering and Ergonomics having received many national and international awards in his fields.

Dr. Amr Mortagy
Vice President for Student Affairs 
Dean - School of Business

IMG 9930 5f766Dr. Mortagy is currently Professor of Business, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of the School of Business at Nile University. From the year 2000 to 2006, He was Dean of the School of Business, Economics and Communication at the American University in Cairo. Prior to this; he was Dean of the College of Business and Economics at the United Arab Emirates University from 1994 to 1996. Dr. Mortagy has been in academic administration for the last twenty five years including, Dean of Business for two schools and Director of a Management Center. Since the early 90’s Dr. Mortagy has given a lot of his time, professional expertise and extensive experience as a seasoned academic administrator to the evaluation and local/international accreditation of business schools/programs. During this period Dr. Mortagy lead the efforts which resulted in awarding accreditation by AACSB-International to two business schools; the College of Business and Economics at The United Arab Emirates University (2000) and the School of Business, Economics and Communication at the American University in Cairo (2006). In addition Dr. Mortagy is currently involved as accreditation consultant to two business schools and has evaluated for local and/or international accreditation five additional schools, all in the Middle East. Dr. Mortagy has also been a frequent speaker and trainer on business accreditation in regional conferences and seminars. Dr. Mortagy has a PhD and an MS in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University, USA, and a BS in Production Engineering from Cairo University. He also had over 400 hours of executive training in management/leadership offered by the American Management Association.



Dr. Hussien I. Anis
Vice President for Academic Affairs 
Dean of Engineering & Applied Sciences
Dean of Communications & Information Technology

Professor Anis is the Dean of Engineering & Applied Science School and also the Dean of Communication & Information Technology School, Nile University.   He IMG 0565 f3d3dis a professor of Electrical Engineering at Cairo University.  He received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University; his M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees from McGill University, Canada.  He was a visiting professor and/or collaborated with many universities and research centers, among which: Universities of Waterloo and British Columbia in Canada; Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of New Orleans, Kansas State University, and University of Cincinnati in the USA; Kuwait University.  He served as the Vice President of the Arab Open University, Kuwait, for research and development.  He acted as consultant to UNESCO, the World Bank, Fulbright Foundation, the British Council, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Open University Validation Services (OUVS), UK, Arab Science & Technology Foundation (ASTF), UAE. He directed a World Bank project on Engineering Education in Egypt.  He carried out the feasibility study of the first Electronic Education university in Egypt.  He was a consultant to many industrial and utility companies and organizations, and was involved in numerous academic activities in Egypt and abroad.  He published nearly 160 papers and coauthored two books.  Prof. Anis is the recipient of numerous awards for his achievements, most notably, the Taqderya Award in Engineeing and the Medal of Science & Arts. His biography appears in five international and three national volumes.




Dr. Mahmoud E. Allam
Vice President for Finance & Administration

M Allam 2014b c2de1Dr. Allam is Professor and Program Director of Software Engineering & Computer Engineering at Nile University. He holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Cairo University, a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, USA; and an Executive Development Diploma from IESE Business School, Spain.Since 2004, Dr. Allam worked as academic consultant for Nile University Project, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and was a member of the core team that founded NU. With NU's launch in 2007 he served in several key positions including Assistant Provost, and founding & acting Dean of the School of Communication and Information Technology. Before joining NU, he was the founding chairman of the Information Systems Department at the Université Française d’Egypte and an adjunct professor in a number of other universities, including the American University in Cairo, the Arab Academy for Science & Technology, and Modern Sciences & Arts University. Before that he was a research fellow at the Ultrasound Research Lab at Mayo Clinic, USA. Dr. Allam was a consultant for a number of industrial companies in Egypt and abroad. He was managing director of Metaco-Egypt where he also established and headed the software development division. Dr. Allam’s research interests include signal and image processing, biometrics and software engineering. He authored several journal and conference papers, book chapters, and supervised more than 30 Master and PhD students. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE, and a founding board member of Internet Masr.
